New colours and values were introduced.

Type I - Plate I - Produced by Electrotyping
Type II - Plate II - Produced by Transfer Die

A new common centre plate, Plate II was prepared from the original die in 1926. Stamps from Plate II, produced using a transfer die, show considerably more detail of the ground and have the oxen's, ploughman's hat and his clothing much more deeply cut.

Produced by De La Rue & Co, Limited using the 'wet' method of recess-printing during which the stamps contracted when they were dried before gumming. From 1933, the firm adopted the 'dry' method, using pre-gummed paper, with the result that stamps were up to 0.5 mm larger in size. Of the low values as Type I in this series only the 2 cents was still current when the 'dry' method was introduced.

Stamps as Type I can be perforated either comb or line. The 1 cent and 4 cents come comb only, the 3 cents line only and 2 cents either way.

The low values in Type 1 were overprinted using Settings II as detailed under Straits Settlements. The three listed constant varieties from the original typeset block of 12 occur in the same position for these Kedah stamps ad does the NO STOP variety from R. 1/5 of the left pane.

For the higher values in Type 2, which were in sheets of 60 (5x12), a further settings was prepared using the first four vertical rows of the impression of the overprint. This means that, in addition to their positions in the truncated typeset block, the oval last 'O' additionally occurs on R. 11/5 and the raised stop from R 5/5 of the sheet. In this setting, as for the low values, 'BORNEO' was 14 mm long.

Further supplies were subsequently required of the 21, 25 and 50 cents values and these were produced using a completely different setting of 20 (5x4), applied three times to each sheet, on which 'BORNEO' was 15 to 15½ mm long.

Industrial Fair in Singapore, from 31 March until 15 April 1922.

For 21, 25 and 50 cents, BORNEO exists both 14mm and 15mm wide.

Overprinted in black, in three lines.

With the exception of the 6 cents and 8 cents, the printing paltes for the Type 1 values were produced by electrotyping with the face values added to the plates by pantograph. The plates for the 6 cents and 8 cents values were constructed by the more modern method of using a transfer die to enter each impression.

Printings after November 1933 were normally produced by the 'dry' method. There were late 'wet' printings of the 1 cent and 2 cents (MYKED.25) in August 1938. The 3 cents only exists from a 'wet' printing, the 6 cents (MYKED.51.a) and 8 cents from the dry printings and the remainder from either method.

Stamps of Type 1 can be found perforated either comb or line. The 3 cents and 6 cents come comb only, the 6 cents and 8 cents line.
