The Launch of Pos Malaysia Berhad
Postal services have existed in this country in the early 1800s . It started in the Straits Settlements of Penang, Malacca and Singapore. The postal service was established later in other places from 1877 to 1910. In 1935 the Malayan Postal Union was formed consisting of the Straits Settlements and Federated Malay States.
Throughout the history of 200 years, the postal service has operated as government departments. At first, only the post office handles mail delivery. Packaging services, registration, insured postal services and pay services received when introduced in stages. Service money orders and postal service with the Post Office Savings Bank also introduced later. With the expansion of the state machine, post office had handled the agency services on behalf of other government departments and non-statutory.
Starting January 1, 1992 the Postal Services Department turned the image into a corporate body. A government-owned company, Pos Malaysia Berhad in Malaysia took over the postal service. Pos Malaysia Berhad will continue to provide all types of postal services have been provided by the Postal Services Department over the years. Government, through Pos Malaysia Service Company intends to build a progressive organization, with the approach known as a commercial and business enterprises.
At first, the postal service will operate as a wholly owned government corporation before privatized soon.The objective of the incorporation and privatization of postal services is to increase efficiency and productivity of existing as well as bring more benefits to employees.
Based on the history of postal services to privatization, no doubt post an important medium of communication among the people that should be developed.
