Straits Settlements - from Singapore to France (1908)
This is not a postal stationery postcard, instead it was a 'general' commercially sold postcard.

The stamp was removed, but it was assumed to be like this one:

Postcard size: 141 x 91 mm.

REVERSE

Malay Campong showing Village Native Houses with Its Inhabitants
Publisher: G.R. Lambert & Co. Singapore

The photo was embossed.

Campong (correct spelling Kampung) is Malay word for Village.

Despite the postcard's caption, the photograph "is in fact a picture of two Karo Batak houses found only in Sumatra," built using "a wire-frame construction of the house".

POSTMARK 1

Circular date stamp (cds), but the original stamp was removed. Only part of the postmark was able to be read: SINGAPORE

POSTMARK 2

Receiving town on 15 January 1909.
Circular date stamp (cds).
